Default Tried 31" on stock

Tried my 31" summer tyres ( actually old wintertyres ) on the car without lift and they fit just fine. can get 99% turn aswell without rubbing. Have about 1" from the tire to the rear and 2-3 to the front.

I thought u couldnt fit 31" without lift. Am i missing something ?

Measure the actual tire diameter. Comparing the 15" rim diameter to the outside diameter of the tire in the photo, I come up with roughly a 29.3" OD tire. Not 31.

Don't just assume that because it says 31" on the tire that it actually is a 31" OD tire. That is a resounding theme in all of the threads on this very topic. And they definitely are plentiful.

Ok will meassure it tomorrow. But why would a tire company say a tire is 31" if its really smaller ?

Also when i buy new tires how can i be sure about the OD ?

If you are turning into say a parking lot with an incline, they will rub when you hit that bump and the suspension flexes. I still have rub marks on my front sway bar and theres spots on my wheel well trim where the 31's rubbed going over bumps and going into parking lots. The previous owner put the 31's on there and they definitly drove me nuts. I wouldn't do it without a lift.

When I first got my 31's they mesured out at like 30.4in OD. And they were ok with the stock wheels other than I lost A LOT of turning radius cause it was rubbing a nice new shiny spot on my frame.

does a 1" spacer help w/ stock wheels and 31's. I'm getting 31's installed tomorrow if all goes well.

was thinking 2" in the back, 1" in the front.

Yeah, in a way, you won't rub the frame. However you will more than likely have to trim your fenders so the tires don't tear them up.
