Default 96 LT 4 door Blazer to zr2 conversion

so what would be involved in making a 96 blazer 4 door into a zr2 "replica" I want to lift my blazer 2 in suspension lift and put a 31 inch tire on the rims. were the zr2 rims wider then a stock blazer rim? if i do have to get a different rim where is a good place to find a rim with the right specs for a zr2? and i know the zr2 axles are a bit wider then the stock blazer axles what would i be looking at to put the zr2 axles on my blazer? and are they geared different then a stock blazer? would the fender flares off the zr2 fit the wheel wells of the 4 door blazer?(yes i know the door is gonna be in the way but i have that planned out if they do fit) and just anything else about making my blazer more like the zr2 i need to know thanks

the zr2 rims are the same as every other stock rim. they stick out further because the axle is a couple inches longer. to compensate for those couple of inches you can either get spacers for your wheels or get some rims with different backspacing. most people get 4-4.5" backspacing with 15x8 rims. stock rims are 15x7 and have 6" backspacing. the thing you will have to worry about with the different backspacing and 31's is they will still rub with a tbar crank and you will have to trim the fenders a bit. the fender flares are fairly tricky to put on a 4 door since they aren't a direct bolt on. Did you want to have the tire on the back like a zr2? the tire mount on zr2s and two doors don't fit on 4 doors but there are aftermarket tire mounting kits that are floating around. that is pretty much the main difference. also you might want to look into getting the zr2 metal skid plates. much better than the plastic one that come on the 4 doors

why is that still a misconception?

i've never seen a 4 door with plastic skid plates until my youngest brother picked uip his '94 4 door last Fall.

My jimmy came with a crappy plastic skid plate and I havent seen a 98+ body style with aluminum ones yet. BTW I replaced mine with a aluminum one anyways.

i guess i'm just lucky.

my '98 came with them, and i know the old lady (who was the original owner) never put them on.

i also stripped a '98 Jimmy that had them on it as well.

well i was just thinking off putting a 2 in suspension lift on my blazer then getting the bigger tires like the zr2. maybe get the wheel spaces for it...i am struggling to find the fender flares...i have seen the for the 4 door blazer but idk where to gget them. but im not looking for anything extreme with my blazer i just want to make it look more aggressive is all. and i have all metal skid plates...ironic since the original owners never took it off the paved road.
