Screwed up the title, it should read: 00 Tahoe 5.3L alternator on a 97 5.7 vortec

Hello everyone! It’s been a while since I’ve posted. Finally got my 5.7 vortec swap all done and completed on my 98 Blazer 4x4. I’ve put about 160ish miles and haven’t had a problem till I went WOT. I have/had a 130amp 8237a (advance auto) alternator from a buddy from a 00 Tahoe 5.3L and the battery holds a charge fine, but when running it’s reading about 11.5 and drops slowly so it’s not charging. I have a single wire for the alternator on my alternator harness plug and am wondering if I need to modify it to work with this style alternator? I’ve read a few things but am not sure if I murdered the voltage regulator on the Alternator. Hopefully someone can help

 

Got it warrantied out and it’s charging better than ever now! 14.3 all day whereas before it was about 13.7/8
