Default 1982 K5 Horn no go

Hi I've got a 1982 K5 Jimmy - I can't get the horns going- took them out and put them across the battery and they go - cleaned up the treminals and earth, got a sound out of one of them and then nothing- horn fuse is ok - steering wheel switch ok - is there anything else in the horn cicuit apart from the fuse box. the only sound I get is like a faint hollow click?????????Appreciate any help thanks Mal26

What voltage are you getting at the horns when you try to activate them?

That voltage indicates that its the horns or the horn ground if that measurement was with the horns connected and attempting to activate the horns at the steering wheel.
