Default 1985 K5 Blazer Jumping Fuel Gauge

Hello Guys,

i recently changed the fuel gauge sending unit on my 85 K5 Blazer and its ok if the car is standing still but if i drive it the gauge is jumping around. Any ideas whats faulty on this?

Thanks!

What were the symptoms before the replacement of the sending unit.

The easiest thing to start with is the quality of the ground at the sensor. After that it would be checking the sender wire back to the dash.

Hi George,
thanks for the answer i'll definitly check those things when i got time for it and share the outcome here. The first problem before the replacement was that the wire to the gauge was cut so i connected the wire again and after i connected it again it was on empty.

Then we should be on the right track.

So i cleaned the ground and renewed the guage connection and the gauge is still jumping. When i fill up the tank it doesnt move around while driving. What else could it be? A faulty sending unit?
