Question 1998 Chevy Blazer-No Crank-Only Click

I am new to the chevy blazer but I stayed with the good year. I am finding extra wires from starter "S" solenoid position and I think to the coil but they have some melt to them now. Can you put me at ease, no fires wanted here, and give me direction on the proper wiring? I am hearing some "diode wire" must be purchased to replace what you need....well I like to hear from some experts....

You should only have 1 purple wire connected to the s terminal on a stock setup. Do you have an aftermarket remote starter or alarm system on the truck?

Ignition coil has a plug with 2 wires: pink and white/black. Ignition control module has a plug with 4 wires: pink, white, white/black, black/white. No idea what someone is referring to as a "diode wire".
