When I bought my Blazer it had an aftermarket stereo system and looks like someone tried to wire a sub into it. Of the 8 speakers in there, only the front door speakers work. I dont know where to start but I want to fix it. I can honestly say I know almost nothing about audio systems.

 

What is in it now for stereo? Is all stock or any aftermarket stuff?

 

It had an aftermarket stereo that was a piece of junk half the buttons didnt work and it wasnt intalled properly. and it only played through the front door speaker. I bought a new stereo a new dash kit and a new wiring connector. I connected all the wires to the matching color and nothing works. Not even the old one comes on when i tried to plug it back up. I noticed before on the old connector that the colors didnt always match up. I think someone really jambled it up and I dont know what to do. Is it possible to trace wires somehow? Can i use some kind of device to fire a tone through each speaker individually?

You can use a 9 volt battery to test each speaker individually if needed,if you connect the pos. wire to pos. battery and neg. wire to neg. battery the speaker should move outward if you have them connected backwards the speaker will suck in. doing this will also help you determine which is pos. and neg. both ways when you hook it up the speaker will make a popping noise. 9 volts won't harm a speaker,but don't leave it connected just touch it to see the speaker movement until you are sure what is proper.

 

I was trying to put in the new stereo and found that i could not get it to come on. i realized that i blew the batteryradio fuse and the ignitionradio fuse. I replaced both and then double checked my wires. All seemed to be securely connected to the matching color. red to red and yellow to yellow and so on. I tried again and still it still didnt come on. I checked the fuses and blew the ignition radio one again. any suggestions? im sorry to bother about this, it my first time messin with the audio system
