ok so im new to this forum and not to sure if im posting this right but here it goes..... I Have an 85 chevy blazer k-5 4x4 , i went to put a new cig. lighter in and the hot wire arched off against the ashtray for a sec than stopped, no big deal or so i thought, i probably blew a fuse. I noticed that my dome light stopped working also, so i go an check the fuse box but all fuses are good and the light under the dash still works just fine the only things that stopped working is the cig lighter n dome light ive been tracing wires n looking at diagrams but its a pretty simple setup an im lost at were the problem is??

 

did you check the actual current through the fuse? sometimes if you just visually look at them they will look ok but can be bad

 

no i haven't done that yet, I will do that here in a bit, but i'm pretty sure the fuse that runs the light under the dash and dome are the same its the courtesy fuse, (i think) cuz when i pull that fuse out the light under the dash shuts off, i wonder what fuse runs the cig. lighter?

 

UPDATE: so i been extremely busy and finally got time to winterize my blazer, (topper on, different carb, had time to check the fuses there was a new style fuse up in the horn/dim spot it was blown so that solved my problem with my dome light and cig. lighter. fixed the topper dome light also now i just need to put in a stereo in and hope nobody steals it!!!!! o thanks for the assistance abig84 much appreciated !!!!!
