Default 97 chevy blazer temporarily loses all electrical power when ignition is turned.

I have a 1998 Chevy Blazer LS. It has an issue with losing any and all electrical power when the ignition switch is turned to start the vehicle. This is a temporary issue as the power does come back on so it is not a blown fuse or fuseable link. I believe it is a relay issue but I do not know which one or where it is.

A 1917 Blazer? I have never heard of that in my life, you need to contact the previous owner about this....

In all reality, I would think its the ignition switch. They are notorious for going bad on these things.

It was supposed to read 1998. BOY did I mistype that one. There edit complete. Boy do I feel sheepish!!!!
In all reality that's what I would have thought. But why would banging the hood rectify that problem?

I'm experiencing a similar problem with my 02 LS 4dr 4.3 auto. I'm probably going to start a separate thread in a bit if my next hack at troubleshooting it is not successful. I'll post my experience here if I fix it. Let me know how it turns out if you do first!

Thus far I have just cleaned the terminals, tested the battery, and changed the mega fuse under the battery tray. Going to try adding a new block ground and swapping in the optima red top from my mercury next. Not the best route, but both are simple and cost nothing.
