Default Astro Van overhead trip console

Hey guys,

Came back from the junkyard today with a overhead console out of an AstroVan that has the MPG, SPEED, RANGE, and all the good stuff. I followed all the steps on this old how to (https://blazerforum.com/forum/audio-...upgrade-20854/) and got all the wiring right but when its on all i get is the "---" where numbers should be.

From what i have read, it seems that the computers on the blazer and astro van 98+ and you need the same version......So my blazer (95) needs an earlier model astrovan to work. I must have got a later model and the computers are not compatable. I really just want to know if that theory is correct. Any help is much appreciated.
Mike

Everything I've heard indicates that you're exactly right. Just find an earlier year.

ETA - The DIC thread (don't say that out loud)

Your Blazer is "OBD1.5" and the Driver Info Centers like that are OBD2. Therefore they are not compatible. Unfortunately, I can't think of any DICs that are OBD1.5...

I don't know if onebad ever got it working, he's got the same year. Maybe check with him

Unless Retro is saying that it just flat won't happen for a '95. The really important info is coming from the truck not the little display module ... I think.

Ok, i have been researching a little bit and i think retro is right. I think that the 95s are not actually sending any of that information so it doesn't matter what i plug in, the info isn't being calculated. Any thoughts?

EDIT: umm that may not be right, i am confusing myself. Gotta do some more reading
