Default Baffeling electrical problem with my 01 Blazer

Hello all, I have a 2001 Chevy Blazer LS. It has a 4.3 v6, 4wd, 4 door with some electical problems that none of my friends can figure out. The vehicle won't start and right before it died completely it would drive for 5 or 10 min then shut down without warning. When that happened I couldn't get it started again for a day or two then I could drive for another day or two. Now it won't start or even turn over, none of my electronics work at all. I tried the obvious, i.e. jumping it but it did nothing. And I have a friend who is a pretty good mechanic and he didn't have a clue. I am not in a financial spot as of right now to take it to a dealership and get gouged. I was hoping that someone in here might have a suggestion on how to fix it or maybe know what the cost would be to replace a computer or wiring or whatever. Thanks for the help.

Sounds like your ignition switch took a crap (fairly common problem) over time their insulation degrades and they overheat and at first will just kill the engine, usually at a slow speed without warning, most people can start the engine just fine 5 minutes later after it cools. But it will eventually fail. Im not 100% sure this is your problem but your story matches most bad ignition switch cases. There is a procedure for testing the ignition switch on here so do a search for it, and if your ignition switch happens to be bad don't worry its easy to replace

Thogert: Thanks, I appreciate it.

97cherryblazer: I'll have to look into that, I never considered it. Thanks for the help.
