Default Brake controller for a 2001 blazer lt

Went camping last year and hooked my pop-up trailer into my 7 pin connection. Everytime I hit the brakes the trailer brakes would lock up automatically. So now I'm going to hook up a brake controller can someone point me in the right direction to hook one up correctly.

You don't mention if there is a controller in the vehicle already, or what make/model it is. Or how the vehicle side 7-way socket is wired. It could be wrong, or the trailer could be wired wrong or just not matching the vehicle socket. You need to verify that first. The best way to wire it is to follow the installation manual for the brake controller you buy.

There is not a controller in the vehicle. It has the tow package. It came with the 4 pin and 7 pin connector. As far as I know it's hooked up correctly. Cause when I did take it camping. I found the brake pin and put tape over it so the brakes would not engage.

So.I was curious if anyone had added a brake controller to a 2001 blazer LT with the tow package.

Just trying to find some help before I did to deep and screw it up

I went to put a brake controller in mine a few years back and decided I'd rather pay a shop to put one in. Glad I did even with the cost. Too much of a PITA to do it myself.
