Default Brake Light Issue

I have a '98 Blazer I just changed multi-function switch on. Right rear brake light, signal and hazard does not work. All work on left side and both tail lights work. When right hand signal is on, the front right signal blinks fast, but nothing at the rear. Please help!!!

do you have a multimeter. if so check the plug on the right side and see if the pins for the right turn are getting juice. also check the bulbs. hope that helps

Sounds like a ground problem on the right side. The flasher works off of circuit load so the front blinking fast is just in response to the lack of load from the rear lights. Both the left & right tail lights use the same ground (G409 - right rear body corner thru splice pack S427 - left rear body harness), but they use separate wires. You may have a damaged ground wire. Another thing to look at is the backup lamp which uses the same ground wire as the brake/turn/parking lights on that side.

THIS POST has the wiring diagrams. When testing the ground using a multimeter set to the resistance scale, the resistance on the black wire at the tail light should be less than 5 ohms to a good ground.

I have almost the same problem but mine is only on the left side I don't have brake lights, everything else works normally, parking lights and turn signals but no brake lights, any advice on what to look for, hoping you can point me in the direction of the problem because I'm not good with electrical problem and for what I have read on the forum you seem like the master of wiring for this trucks.

The reverse lights do work on both sides. Does that mean ground is good? There is no current on right side when brake/hazard is on. Have checked bulbs and fixtures and they check out ok. Have also checked trailer harness. Thanks for the help!

Time to dig into the wiring then (diagrams posted in the link above).

As far as not having brake lights on only one side, but everything else works fine... That is very strange. The turn signals & brake lights use the same filament on each side. The multifunction switch controls the power to that filament.

I know it is very strange, now, after looking at the diagram for like an hour, I started having problems with the multifunction switch a couple of weeks ago that sometimes for the left turn signal to work I have to apply some pressure down on the lever, I was planning on getting a new one after the holidays but I think it may be related so I'm just going to order it and will report back with the results.
