Burned-out wire on Fuel Pump Circuit
Finally got possession of my blazer, and had an electrical issue.
The previous owner had driven into town. When she came back to start it up, it would not turn over.
When she tried to jump it off, thinking it was the battery, she noticed is smoking under the Junction box on the firewall. I looked and a wire had burned through the insulation.
The wire is on the second stud from the left in the picture. I is one of the two black wires coming from the stud marked Fuel Pump Relay. Every time the key is turned to start, it smokes. Any ideas what could've caused it?
This is a 1992 K1500 Silverado-edition Blazer, 4WD

I went back and took a good look at the truck. Makes it so much easier when the missus isn't nagging your to hurry up so she can go shopping!!
Anyway, found out the burned out wire was actually a fusible link in the junction block. If the label on the cover is accurate, the fusible link is part of the fuel pump fuse.
I turned the key to ON, before the wire completely burned through, and couldn't hear the fuel pump engage. So I'm thinking the culprit is somewhere in the fuel pump circuit.
I feel better knowing that wire was supposed to burn out, but something tells me there's something more sinister that CAUSED it to burn out.
I can only think of three possibilities:
1: The link itself was worn out; simple replacement
2: The fuel filter is clogged; simple replacement
3: The fuel pump is bad; ah crap....

Finally got the problem nailed down. Turns out it was just a bad fusible link.
I cut back the burned out section and spliced in a patch wire just to get the truck home. The first time I spliced it, the wire practically crumbled in my hand. I cut it back further, almost to the connector, and spliced it in again. Put some oil in it and she fired right up.
Didn't have the time, tools or parts to put a proper replacement in, so Ill do that tonight. Im just glad it wasn't serious.
