Default Buzzer going off periodically

We have a 97 S-10 Blazer, 4 door, 4x4, LT. My son has it a college and he is reporting that there is a buzzer going off at various times. Some days it doesn't go off at all. Today it went off every time that he drove it. He said that the only way it would go off was when he turned the steering wheel to the left. There is no light related to this. He has not been able to figure out what is causing it.

Not sure if this is related, but the switch on the gear shift that allows the key to move to the off position does not work. We just have been using a screwdriver up through the hole under the switch to get to the off position so that we can take the key out.

Another thing that we did was to replace the 4 way switch. I broke it getting the instrument cluster bezel off. I follow instructions that I learned here to do that. I pulled the remains out with a pair of needle nose pliers and then pushed the new on it place.

Not sure if those are related, but thought I would share them in case they are.

Anyone have any idea what this buzzer is and what we need to do to get it to stop going off?
