Default Complete power loss, and gauge fluctuation

I have a 2001 that has had problems with the gages going on and off once in awhile for the past year. Just recently i have lost complete power for about 10 to 20 seconds. I see the gages fluctuate and then have power again. The radio time resets so I dont believe its the ignition switch. I just replace the battery and checked the main fuse 175 amp under the battery tray and checked the wires. Every thing looked good. (I was told that the old battery, 3 years old, was bad by the dealer even though the car started for the last two months in cold weather). The new battery does seem stonger. I hope this solves the problem but if not any suggestions?
