connect battery = beep/alarm/red light flashes (91 S10 Blazer)
Hi,
I have recently replaced the ignition cylinder in my steering wheel, but when I had every assembled back together and reconnected that battery,
my car woke up to a state of alarm.
It beeps and the red dashboard LED (the one that is usually solid on even when the car is off) flashes in the same rhythm, even without a key in the cylinder.
When the key is in, the interior lights are flashing as well.
I suspect it's something simple - like replacing a fuse - but how did I cause this and what do I have to do to reset it?
Thanks for your help!

ah - thanks a lot, aftermarket alarm makes a lot of sense since my Blazer seemed to be the only one with that constant red dashboard LED, and I found no mention of it in the chilton manual.
So, I am guessing that's what that weird little metal switch was for...
which never seemed to be connected right in the first place and very recently lost the last wire it was connected to...
...guess that means I'm doomed.
Well, it probably means I have to dig in and find a way to deactivate the alarm with another technique... permanently?

well you can flip the switch and see if that works . OR you can cut it out and have less wires under your dash (if aftermarket)
I do this to a lot of cars. IT would look like this after removal .
ya need to remember... you need to study where the wires are going . Or else it might not start or give ya many other problems.

Hey -
so the solution was comparably easy.
I found the 2 wires that were attached to the little switch that belongs to the aftermarket alarm system.
I had to remove some of the isolation+twisted them together.
Voila - problem solved - car starts, no more beeps/blinks.
Thanks a megabunch for your helps,

Very happy that it drives again.
BTW xgiovannix12, very cool looking 92 S10!
Mine is black too but it is in dire need of some rust removal :/
