Dome and cargo light issue
I have a 89 s10 blazer 2wd with the back lift up window and I am trying to figure out two things. One my dome and cargo light stays on. Tried messing with dimmer for the dash lights but it's not that. Also the cargo light bulb gets hot quick. Ive noticed that the cargo light has a switch on it that is stuck, so I plan on replacing it but that doesn't explain why it gets so hot so quick. Both of those lights are on the same fuse with the cig lighter so I've just been pulling the fuse. I'm guessing that there might be a bad or crossed ground somewhere and that's why it gets hot quick. Any one know where I can look without having to totally tear apart interior. Thanx and hippy holidaze!!
Usually when the cargo and interior lights stay on it's the switch in the back, next to the cargo light above the back window.
I'm confused about the hot thingy...
A bad ground would not make a circuit and the lights would stay "off".
A crossed ground (one ground wiring crossing another) is usually undetectable as it would offer a ground path to whatever appliance needs it, just not where it is supposed to be.
I guess you mean a short-circuit - that could make things become hot, very hot to the point of smoking parts and even fire.
I'm confused about the hot thingy...
- what exactly is getting hot?
- hot as in - hot to melt the plastic, puff smoke?
- under what conditions? (light on or off?)

Is this a regular style filiment bulb? Not led or such right? The glass regular dome light bulbs indeed do get blistering hot in just a couple mins from being on. They have always produced that kind of heat.
