so i talked to the guy some more and he says that at idle each alternator will do have its output.

160 = 80
200 = 100

my question is, what does our stock do at idle?

Not enough! lol

I really don't know. I think max is like 105 or something so if those numbers are anything to go off of than somewhere around 50-55 lol.

yeah... if someone can tell me what our stock does at say 600rpm then i'd be able to decide which. probably the ad244 anyways because its $30 more for 40 more amps.

Zombie thread back from the dead...

I picked up a "250" amp high output AD244 from DB electrical for $277 shipped. Good thing it has a one year warrenty, cause I'm shipping it in for repairs after 8 monthes of use. Has a squeal when the pulley is spinning, and my lights get dim at idle with no load on the amp and brighten up when accelerating. Didn't used to do this. Plus even new I was only getting around 14.4-5 volts at the alternator post on a cold start. The temporary AD230, (which is only 100-105 amps like the OEM cs130/cs144's) I have in untill the high output one is returned put out almost 15.2 volts when I tested it at the alternator post. So I was pleasently surprised.

But It's possible that this was just a fluke and it will be returned better then new, who knows. I still don't regret going withy a cheaper lesser known alt company. One thing to look for on the high output AD244's is on the back side. Some of the best has a one piece output post that is normally copper. Where as the factory and some of the lower quality has a metal post soldered to the unit instead of the one solid piece copper I refered to. Just something I have noticed and read is a good thing to look for.

Oh yeah. You can get a solid 140-145 amps warm from a stock ad244. With good wires and batteries you can pull some good current and not have a problem. And I know you use quality wires and products Mack.

yeah i do but i'll probably be gutting it again this summer. My cousin and i picked up 4 lightly used JL 12w7s tonight for 1200 for us to build boxes for and sell to get our little company going. He already has a great window tinting, HID install and vinyl graphic company going and wants to bring me into it to do the audio installs to pull in the whole car custom scene.

He has already put in the money to have the 4 w7s, 2 w0s, 4 Alpine type Rs, a couple Kenwoods, and then amps and a few Pioneer radios.

Tonight when we picked up the w7s, we had a total of 6 between our 2 cars. He has one in his trunk with a JL HD750/1 and my 12w7 with the 1000/1. then 2 in his back seat and 2 in mine...

yeah... this is my dream come true and my 22 year old cousin is helping me make it come true... i'm super excited
