Electrical nightmare 99 blazer driveability issue!!
Hello folks!
Today i had a close encounter of the third kind with a 99 blazer 4.3 with over 220 000km
I was driving on the highway for about 30 min hauling a trailer when suddently i heard a screeching noise with ALL the lights in the dash lighting up, it seemed like the belt was slipping but it sure wasnt the case. Occured two times in less than 5 minutes. I went on praying the lord i could make it to my exit, everything went fine until i got there.
Slowing down, screeching noise again, but would not stop. I soon figured out that noise was the starter engaging on and off at a quick pace while i was doing 1500 rpm... Found somewhere to park and shut it down.
Now check this out ladies and gentlemen..
As soon as i put the key in the ignition, even without turning it the starter would attempt to turn, and sometimes when i took the key out it would still try for a few seconds.. WTF!?
I found a neat trick tough, since i still needed to make my delivery and get back home; remove starter relay, put key at RUN, just sat the relay to get it to crank and removed it. Bam! It worked and i could get home..
Now, something wierd. It's Canadian equipped, which means daytime running lights.. Headlights were off but fuses ok, could not activate high beams, parking were on like they are supposed to. When i got home headlights were functionning, problem was gone, but remote door lock would not work, and a big SECURITY light is still on even tough the truck is locked, keys out..
It does have a remote starter, which hasnt work for a while, battery is very recent and still very powerful on cold mornings, i did not get the chance to research, and test, but at largel any clues? Bad ignition swith? Anyone had issues like this one?
Thanks for taking the time to read!

I would completely remove all the wiring and the remote start equipment. It does not work anyway, removing it rules it out as the problem and it's free. When I removed mine I was surprised how many circuits it was tied into. A problem with remote starters could affect a lot of systems. I like your ignition switch idea as well, but I'm a fan of repairs that don't cost money, just time.
New update; I removed the remote starter and its wiring, problem is still there. Since the vehicule was parked i havent had any starter issues but i have the following issues;
Remote door lock/unlock will not work, can lock doors with the switch on driver control but driver lock will not move.
Security light stays on solid, even with key removed and doors locked. Engine starts and runs fine.
No dome light, no chime (door ajar) working.
Headlights will not come on even if i try to turn them on manually. High beams will not work either. Parking lights and instruments lights work fine.
I'm lost...

I agree, remove the remote start unit, and all of its wiring. Then hope for the best with your flywheel/flex plate.
