Default Electrical Problem with dashlights

1987 Chevy Blazer K5 6,2L Diesel

Hey guys, have a very strange problem with my truck.

So when I'm driving I randomly get lights coming up on the dash, as if I just put the key in and turned it into start the truck. The lights flicker, glowplugs come one for a second, the seatbelt light comes on. Then everything goes black, dome lights go out and it starts all over again.

I thought it was the battery so I got my older one tested and it came back as a bad battery, I then bought a new optima battery. When I got home and hooked everything up I still had the same problem.

Any help would be great.

Now the truck is shutting off as I drive. I'm thinking maybe a bad ground but any ideas would be great.

You are describing the similar problem I had recently BUT with my 98 GMC Jimmy. I was driving one day suddenly the gauges all came on then vehicle shuts off. Started up and went on my way. Then one day not long after I went to start up and could not start , it cranks but wont start and no lights shown on the dash. But with and suggestions of other users on the forum and in my case Fault turned out to be the ignition switch. So it would'nt be a bad idea to look into that also... and Good Luck!

Can't be computer related, you don't have one, could it be alternator related ? I've heard of batteries being depleted because of a bad alternator, which would also effect your spark, have you figured it out yet ????
