Default Emergency flasher repair or replace

96 Blazer with a broken emergency flasher switch can I just pull out the switch and replace it or will I need to replace the whole mechanism?

It’s an assembly, I have never seen the hazard switch portion separate.

This this is why I'm confused. I'm just going to start pulling my dash off to get to it. I really wanted to avoid that if possible. I might try disconnecting the battery and see if I can't pull it out with a pair of needle nose I mean it's broken anyway right?

I do. Looks like an easy fix, I learned something today. The teacher becomes the student:

There was a recall a number of years back on the multi-function switch. Might be worth you while to bring it in to the dealership. If it hasn't been replaced before, they just might do that for you free.

Well I spent the big bucks and put it a whole new multi-function switch now I have no brake lights my blinkers work five but no hazards. I'm not so concerned about the hazard but I need my brake lights. Any ideals. Oh yeah I do have tail lights.

The brake lights died after the MF switch replacement? If your model year has a third brake light at the top of the hatch, does that work?

My mistake, I had pulled the hazard fuse and forgot to replace it. I know that was pretty dumb, I just got in a hurry to try it, but all is good now. Although that third brake light you were referring to does not work. Not sure I even want to mess with that now. You think it's just another headache or something I can tackle?
