Default Fuel Quantity Sending Unit

I have determined that the fuel pump in my 2000 LS has kicked it. It's once happy purr started degrading to a lazy growl a few weeks ago...then the hard starting issues....now it won't even growl. My question is this: When I order the AC Delco pump from Rockmotor (and thanks for the TONS of info on this topic by the way), is the "Robust" sending unit worth the extra $80, or is it the same design that fails after a year or so?
Thanks!
MM
