IF you have a trailer plug id start there

great what do i do with the plug what do you mean.. sorry dont know anything about wires
#4
follow it see if you got any burnt wires or any hot wires touching the frame causing the fuse to burn
#5
Look for cuts in the wires that have power to them(hot wires)
#6
I'd start with getting a DMM. (Digital Multi Meter)

It can tell you if a wire has a short to ground in places you can't see or find. It makes looking a little easier, because you can test the wires without searching along the whole thing.

a 12 v test light will work just fine for this and it's easier to read.
First, which fuse exactly and where?
You say you fuse blows immediately.. does that mean as soon as you install it or when you use brakes?
When you probe the top contacts of a blown fuse the light will light when the shorted circuit is activated.
Say, for example, the short is just past the brake switch.. have a helper press the brake and light would light.
If it lights with key off and no switch active then short is likely between the fuse and brake switch
