I looked at some of the retrofit stuff on the HIDplanet forum, and I think that might take more time than I was planning on, and I'm not sure I could even do it correctly.

I wish somebody made a good plug-and-play set of lights. I did find these on LMC truck:

But I am not sure that they would be any better than the ebay ones. They are certainly expensive though.

Technically a halogen retrofit would still be illegal, as the light source / housing was not tested and approved by the DOT. It would, however, be far more difficult to tell it wasn't a stock option.

 

ahhh touche! Did not think of that, stupid DOT, why wont they let us have fun!

Can you imagine what would be on the road if the DOT was not an issue.. Frightening.

You could alway buy the halo/ projector lights and try to use a silverstar bulb. Not quite sure on the setup on the halo/ projectors tho.
