Halos as DRLs?
I am in the process of swaping my gmc jimmy front end to a blazer. All i Need are the headlights. so why not go aftermarket right away while im at it, right?I want to get these, 4PCS 98-04 CHEVY S10 BLAZER HALO SMD LED PROJECTOR HEADLIGHTS+BUMPER LAMPS BLACK | eBay, cuz i love the look of halos. My question is, is how do i wire the halos to BE my DRLs? i cant find anyhting about this, all i can find is how to disable my DRL. Is this possible? or is this going to be a nightmear of wireing, cutting, spliceing, soldering, and/or modding?
Your best option is to disable your regular drls (because they use the high beam bulbs) and find a power source that is only on when the truck is running. You could probably tap into the drl fuse for this purpose.
u could also find a constant power source that is only powered when ur rig is on, like and ignition fuse, and wire it into that so when u turn on the key the halos come on. pretty simple to do if u understand simple wiring. just match power to power and ground to ground and ul have ur halos.
Great idea guys, thanks. I knew there was a reason I loved this website. Lol. Another question I have is, the housings come with H1 bulbs, these seem tiny compared to the stock bulbs, does anyone know about the light output these will have compared to the stock?
yes they do. my brother just replaced his headlights in his subaru and it came with h1 low beams. he changed them out with silverstar bulbs so they are a whiter light, but they do put out the same light output.
You should just disable the drl ligts.... Then you tap the halos into the oramge lights that come on when you turn the headlamp switch 1 click. I did this on my silverado.
The H1 bulbs put out jist as well as the stockers do... Even better in a projector actually.
