Heater control works with key out
#2
Heater controls I think are intended to work via the Retained Accessory Power (RAP) circuit for up to 20 minutes with the key out as long as a door is not opened. This applies to the radio too. Does the radio also work when the heater controls work?
Perhaps the RAP circuit/replay has a fault?

Of course I mean with the door open. I know they can stay on with only the key out before you open the door. I'm talking all the time until it kills that battery unless I pull the HVAC fuse. Or I can turn the control off but still turn it back on while the key is still out.

OK, that is why I asked. Yes, it should turn off once the door is open or after 20 minutes.
So does the radio also work even with the door open? Will the HVAC controls work longer than 20 minutes? (From what you wrote I'm assuming the answer is 'yes.') Does the dome-light come on when the door is opened?
I ask to see if the RAP circuit is working correctly or not. Also, I am wondering if the door jam switch is not working so that the RAP circuit "thinks" the door is still closed.

I am pretty sure it is the ignition switch so I'll change it tomorrow and see how it works. I did have it unplugged and the HVAC stayed on though but I have found a couple post about that being the problem. I'll let everyone know tomorrow!
