help!!! headlights flashing on and off for no reason !!!

Default help!!! headlights flashing on and off for no reason !!!

ok ...i need some help becuse im so puzzled on this one ...i have a 97 blazer composite headlights ...and if i have my headlights on for more the n 45 mins almost to the dot ...they start to slowly flash ...and they progessivly flash faster and faster ...this isnt safe ...so i need it fixed...the relay is hot ...very hot..why is it getting hot...and its only when my headlights are on it wont do it with the daytime running lights
hope i can get some advice or help thanks

sounds like the relay is cooking its self

Is there an other relay the same ? swap them ? see if the problem consists

I think thats a good start

hmm i wonder what relays taste like ? joking

Where are your relays mounted? They might not have enough air moving around them, and they are over heating.

they relay is in the glove box behind alittle plastic cover ....i have it all tore apart so when it does start flashing i open the glove box and crank my ac on high and that helps...but i live in MN ....its 3 degrees outside lol i dont wanna run my ac when its that cold lol

i for some reason thought you were talking about HIDs, sorry.
have you tried to replace the relay?


I am from mn too, what part of MN?

no i havnt i plan on it just need to find one ...floodwood...like 45 mins from duluth

Try switching the relays in the glove box. The one on the left is for fuel pump. With the motor running, pull the left one and the truck will kill. That tells you that is good . Put that one in the second slot, that is your headlight relay. If they come on that's your problem. If not pull off plastic frame around the headlight switch. It will come off easy. Try one from the junk yard or test to see if it has juice. Then turn it on and see if another terminal has juice. Then you have juice in and out. Hope this helps a little bit. Backyard Mn.

thank you guys abunch!! i mean it ive been scratching my head at this for so long and finally decided id ask and it was the relay i replaced it and havnt had a problem since gotta love that MN nice =P haha ...and that blazerforum nice lol

I am from Minneapolis BTW! Did not realize there was so many members from MN
