Default How do i switch the ignition lock on my blazer?

Im trying to switch the old ignition lock on my 96 blazer because the key doesn't turn anymore. I tried putting WD-40 to see if it'll turn but it didnt. I have four keys and none of them work. So i bought a new ignition lock to replace it. I took off all the panels on the dash and the steering wheel to take it the lock cylinder off. Yes i disconnected the battery so the air bag wont come out. It seems like the steering wheel is int the way of the metal box holding the ignition lock it so i can get it out or unscrew it from inside. what should i do next and go about switching locks? any help would be greatly appreciated

What did you do to that thing??

The removal of a lock cylinder that cannot be turned requires removal of some tabs with a die grinder. If you are not comfortable doing this procedure, it is best left to someone who is.

If you can get the cylinder to rotate to the start position, it is simple to remove. Find the hole on the top of the housing that the cylinder resides in and insert a 1/16" allen key into the hole and allow it to turn back to the run position. The cylinder should then be released and allowed to be removed.
