How do i unplug the transmission wiring harness joint from the tranny case plug?
Is there any special way the wire harness plug seperates at the transmission on a 4l60e? i need to pull out the lower wire harness that is inside the tranny pan but cant seem to separate it at the tranny case where it joins up to the main harness and comes into the tranny. please help
Hi.
there is three prongs that need to be pressed in to pull the connector apart.
Then the connector in the trans, has three prongs that need to be pressed in so you can pull the connector though the case a socket helps.
It can be done just a pain to do. Make sure to replace the o ring or you will have a leak.

i had to remove both. ok heres what happened. i got the top one umpluged by sqeezing the 2 tags on the sides after i found them and it pulled right up. then the bottom harness that is inside the pan would not come out because the O ring had locked it self in its bore. so i got a custom pipe that measured 1 5/16" and press over the top of it to squeeze the tags in. then i made my own tool setup. i got a small flat piece of wood to put on top of the harness plug. then i got to small pieces of wood for the bottom where the valve body is and i put a piece of metal across those 2 pieces of wood to bridge them. this way the harness tail would not get squashed once i put pressure with my 6" C clamp and i press it out. it worked great. it pressed that sucker right out!
