Ignition Lock Cylinder Help
#1
Hello. I have an 85 K5 Silverado Blazer w\auto tranny that the previous owner purposely broke the ignition lock cylinder so that it wouldn't lock. He said he did it because he kept losing his keys and this way he could still start the truck. He didn't give me a key when I bought it but it turns freely to the run position and back. Anyway, I bought a new cylinder for it and have followed the guides outlined both online and in 2 different manuals and everything indicates that after I take out the retaining screw inside the column the cylinder should just slide right out but I can't for my life get it to release. Does anyone have any ideas of what might be holding it in place? Is it because there isn't an actual key in it? He may have broken the key off down in it but I can't tell. If I hammer a flat head screwdriver into it, would it assist in getting it out? If I can just get this ignition out I'll be ready to finally fire this project up. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
