Default LED related question

I've fitted 24 bulb led's in my front indicators.

Question is: They now flash super fast - usually as when one bulb is out. I understand LED's work differently but is there a replacement relay available to slow the blinking back to a more sedate speed? And where do I find it (assuming it's in the same place as the LHD trucks )

Also, the rear are still the incadescent type - will this affect it's operation?

Another question: Why do the emergency blinkers still flash as normal? Does this have it's own relay? And where is this hidden?

Well on the LHD trucks it is below the radio to the left of the ash tray, there are 2 flashers there one for the hazards and one for the blinkers, a heavy duty flasher should slow the blink up a bit.... have fun removing the panels under there to get to them, they are fun.. LOL

Figures! Yea should be fun. Not generally a problem unit so I guess GM would hide it away! I've found a replacement part here - just need to establish if it's 2 or 3 pin.

Guess I better leave this till the weekend! Don't want to be stuck out in the cold for too long when I get home tonight. I've got some choice words ready for when I start this! LOL

Look for a Led flasher unit, regular flashers require more current to operate properly

you will need a load resistor. Standard bulbs require more amps then LEDs. Since the LEDs dont draw many amps it thinks that the bulb is burned out.

Thanks guys, I've found a Aussie made relay which is good for LED's. I'll get one on Saturday & hopefully the weather is fine then I'll change it out.

If you're talking about slowing the signal flashing, all you need is an LED flasher or to mod your stock one. The flasher is behind the glove box. All you need to do is pull a little hook at the top of the glove box inside then it will drop fully down.

If you have some LEDs and some incandescents it will still signal normally with a flasher mod or LED flasher. Let me know if you want the link on how to mod your flasher!

Behind the glove box is relays, fuel pump etc... My flasher unit was below the radio left of the ashtray, well hidden. I just had to change my turn signal flasher out 2 months ago because I had intermittent turn signals.... there are 2 down there one for the hazards and one for the turn signals. Unless one of those relays behind the glove box powers the flashers or did they change stuff from 97 to 99

Nope! Checked behind the glove box - not there. I'll wait till the weekend & then dig it out.

I need to first confirm if it's a 2 or 3 pin unit so I'll have to take it out & then go buy the replacement.

My bad, must have been a re-plant from 2000 and up or somethings. GM changes the strangest things.
