Default multifunction headache

for a few months now i have been dealing with the clicking of my turn signal relay in my 2000 jimmy and couldnt take it anymore and got a new multifunction switch. i took the old one off the colum no problem but had a tough time with the black harness. white one wasnt too bad but the black one was mangled by the time i got it off. i figured just cut the wires an use the donor harness. got everything together, everything is working except the signals are messed up. when i turn left it works some of the time, other times it freezes on. when i turn right nothing shows on the dash, the front gets no signal and all three brake lights flash. im assuming ive crossed the brake and right signal wires. can anyone tell me which wires they would be? thanks
