Question New alternator n battery sunday, so what causes this?

Just installed brand new alternator and battery on sunday in my 1995 blazer ls 4wd. My battery light had never came on until right before the alternator went out, my volts was barely registering either. So granted it starts and runs fine, but when I start it after its sat overnight or few a few hrs my battery light stays on for a few minutes and my battery volts are showing only about 10-12 volts. After it runs for a few mins then the light goes out and the volts increase to over 14 volts where they should be. Why is the light and volts still acting up when I first start it?

possibly loose connection or broken wire at the alternator terminals or at battery i would check there first.

Now that I think about it, my battery cable seemed like it may need to be replaced. I dont know exactly what to look for to know for sure that it is bad, but I am gonna have to check that out. Thanks
