Default 00 Jimmy runs rough possible electrical issue

I am looking at buying a 00 Jimmy from a guy I know. I am trying to see if I can get some input on the possible problem before I decide to buy it or not.(the price is low becuase of the issues)
It runs a bit rough. Not terribly rough, but you can notice it's not right. The check engine light is on, and when you use some of the accessories(which to 4x4) the light dim a bit. He told me that it runs rough off and on. The light will go off and it will run perfect for a couple weeks, and then the light comes on and it is rough for a couple weeks. Has anyone come across this before?
I suppose the lights dimming could just be coincidence.

Thanks,

A good place to start would be to have the codes read and let us know what they are.
