Uk 2000 4.3 Blazer not charging.
I went to start the truck a couple of days ago one morning and it struggled to start, but it did eventually. Looked at the voltmeter on the dash and it was reading less than 12v and slowly going down.The voltmeter normally sits at around 14v. The battery light was not on either to say it wasn't charging. The Blazer eventually died due to the battery going flat. So i charged the battery back up throughout the day and refitted it. The blazer fired straight up but the voltmeter on the dashboard was still only showing 12v and going down again. I checked the battery with a multi-meter whilst it was still running and it was at 12v and falling. I then checked the alternator and that was only reading the same as the battery. So i assumed the alt was bad. I purchased a new alt and new battery but still the same symptoms. (not charging). I have checked and cleaned the wiring that i can see. On the alt there is a plug with two wires in, one has a constant 12v from the battery and one has a 12v from the ignition when running and also one big one going into the wiring loom and i assume that is going to the battery. I have also checked all the fuses i can see under the bonnet and in the side of the dashboard. Any help would be greatly appreciated as this is my only vehicle to get to work in.Thanks in advance.
