Default OBD System

I have a 2004 chevy blazer and I went thru inspection today and was told that I failed inspection because of my catalytic converter system obd was not ready along with my evaporative system was not ready. Does anyone know an easy way of fixing this? or reseting the system so that it states its ready?

Have you cleared the codes any time soon ? OR have had a dead battery?

The monitors have to be completed thru a drive cycle. IF not it will not pass inspection.
You need a scan tool to make sure the monitors are completed.

Here is a full drive cycle. General Motors Driving Cycle
Make sure you check all the monitors with a scan tool before going for inspection again.

Yeah I had a dead battery about a week ago. Was told that could be the reason why. What kind of scan tool will scan for the systems readiness? I have used multiple different ones for codes in the past but never this.

any basic scan tool can do this. If you go down the menu you should see I/M monitors.

Those have to be completed . That is why you did not pass . The dead battery reseted the computer.

Go for a long drive, that should get those ready.

My DEQ sequence goes like this.

1. look at a map for the best route without stop and go as much as possible. Try for routes thatll let you do 45-60mph for about 20min.

2. Take off slow/slow down slowly while driving. Keep trans in drive not overdrive. higher rpms are better. the hotter your catalyst system the better.

3. Pull into DEQ bay and pass the test.

I wipe my computer prior to going to DEQ every time, then I do this. It has worked well for me.
