Default odd tail light poll

okay guys, I have a poll for you. do your brake lights and turn signals function in 4 or top two only? my Bravada 99 is doing top two only, but I just encountered a different Bravada this morning with all four plus highmount. Was this a difference in years or in models? Or are my bottom bulbs High filament busted?

Suppose to be all 4 plus the top mounted LED when the brake is pressed. Both in each tail light also function as the turn signal. Both in each light also light up dimly for running lights.

Check your bottom two bulbs. It is very possible to have just the brighter filament burnt out that's for the brake and turn signal lighting, but the running light filament is still functional.

Could also be corrosion in the plugs keeping them from making contact.

Only other possibility I can think of is that for whatever unknown reason, someone in the past may have messed with the harnesses and disabled the brake lights for one of the bulbs in each light. I did this in a way (only I disabled a bulb for running lights in each tail light) when I had some cheap LED's installed because there was hardly no difference between running light and brake light output with them, so I did it in an attempt to make the brake lights more obvious.

Fast-forward to the 2:08 mark...

nice video thanks for the heads up I must say I'm a little jealous of the tailgate versus the liftgate... is that switchable... nevermind lol. I'll check my lower bulbs tomorrow thanks a ton

hey blazen, here's the heads up. you were absolutely right. all four tail stop lamps are supposed to be 3057. will 3157 work? that's what they are up front... my driver side one began working on its own after playing with it. the passenger lower is shot. I already replaced the relay with a LED compatible. could I switch to all four LED? could I leave the fronts filament if I put the rears at LED?

Either 3057 or 3157 will work, they're interchangeable for the most part, with the 3157 being ever so slightly higher wattage and a smidgen brighter, but not enough to where you or anyone else would probably notice...

If you've already changed the flasher relay to an LED capable one, you should have no issues swapping them all to LED bulbs

hey got all my tail lights fixed thank you the new relay is quicker than Factory but not psycho broken speed. did not go with LEDs just put the 3157s in. had a few extras around so I didn't actually have to buy any LOL. now that I think of it though I wonder if the lower brake lights being out would have caused the normal relay to go psycho. Maybe I'll see if I didn't throw that relay awaye yet and retest it now with four bulbs on rear.

Come to think of it, I do believe that it's supposed to flash faster when a bulb is out.

I bet you I tossed a decent relay, because I changed the relay before I realized the lower brake lights were an issue. Oh well accidental upgrade to LED-ready...haha.
