Optima Red or Yellow top battery?
I'm in need of a new battery. This bout of -30*+ temp has not been kind. Ive know i was going to need a new battery for a while, but i just had to wait till the temp dropped to the point i can BARELY start my truck, lol. Current one is only anout a year and a half old.
I have 55w HIDs, a 200w amp, Halo/angel eyes, and Single Color (blue) LED underglow.
I Like to leave the underglow on when im parked or overnight (not when its -30*, lol) when im at work or infront of my house. (gotta let people see how cool i am when im not around, LOL)
I have plans on doing the Big 3 and the Ad244 Alternator (or is it the DR44G? I forgot). (once i meausre the wire lengths i need). Oh boy getting off topic a but here, lol.
I want a dual post battery so i can use the side for regular use, and the top post for accesories.
I was thinking the yellow for the fact of the drain then recharge and drain and recharge, ECT.. the battery will experience witht the underglow. All be it they are LED, im assuming its what killed my current battery's power holding capability.
So Over all question, what do you recomend, An Optima Red top 34/78, or get the Deep Cycle yellow 34/78? Sorry for typing a novel, i get a bit "rambley" after a few tall ones, lol.

I have an interstate in my truck, it handled -25f below with windchills of -55f below and started perfect.
I have HID's, power everything, 1000w amp. handles it very well.
Optimas are not what they used to be, they are still great, but do not merit the price to me anymore.

Im fine not getting optima, but it was the only brand i am aware of that has both side and top post. Another reason i want dual post is because then i can also switch it into my mustang in summers. But i guess i could just get a top post in my jimmy and get top to side adaptors. So given my over all needs does any one have and recomendations on batteries?

Many other brands have both top and side post (combo) batteries. I used to get Sears Die Hard batts with both. I've seen Duralast ones at Auto Zone with both too.
Stick to a name brand and most of the time you can't go wrong.
I hope this helps

I have both red and yellow top. I purchased both used The red with my Z for $30 and the yellow from a wrecker for $25. My red top doesn't like the cold. My light bar nearly killed it in 45 minutes. Had my yellow top in my car and ran my stereo amp 2 subs and led lights for 6 hours and started like new.
