Has anyone removed the bcm from their truck? I did a s10 swap for my
Daughters 50 Chevy truck. I used the complete wiring harness.
The s10 is a2001 using the 4.3 and 4l60e.
I'm trying to get rid of the passlock 2. I unplugged the bcm while the truck was
Running it seems to continue to start. Just need input from some other people being though this is my daughters truck and don't want to get her stranded.
Thank you.

The Passlock2 sensor is behind the ignition lock cylinder in the column. There are two sensors in one housing: One checks for the proper key, the other checks for "forced rotation" of the lock cylinder, (theft). If the BCM does not recognize the key, but the cylinder rotates without being forced, it will still allow the PCM to activate the injectors, but the "Security" light will be illuminated in the cluster. If the BCM does not receive a signal from the sensor, or senses a forced rotation, the Security light will flash, and the PCM will disable the injectors. There have been countless upgrades to Passlock, usually every year something changes, so check your owners manual.
