can i put a 99 blazer pcm and in a 98 blazer pcm?

and also, the pcm is the black box under the hood near the battery right?

the reason i ask is because i found out the computer is whats wrong with my transmission and i can get a free 99 blazer pcm.

if i cant do that then does anyone know what to do with a pcm thats messing up my transmission? does a wire need replacing or something?

by the way, the 99 blazer is 2 door and not 4x4 mine is 4 door and it is a 4x4. thanks.

on the top of the pcm there is a white tag, make sure the "service" number is the same, if the numbers are the same the pcm will work in your vehicle BUT it must be programmed to your vin with a GM Tech 2 in order for it to work properly

Isn't the trans controlled by the BCM? Either way you have to mane sure the #'s match. The PCM is the or should be the finned rectangular box towards the firewall from the battery.

No i dont think so.. Because when i had my PCM tuned they changed shift points and torque management, so i think the PCM controls the trans, or that part anyway.

thanks for the replies.

my transmission would not shift when the truck is warm and somebody with the same issue told me to fix the ground wire on the pcm.

but since my last post i have changed the fluid and filter (without lucas) and its shifting very good. it just seems to shift late, but it shifts. the rpms are at 1800 or 1900 when im going 60mph. before the rpms would rise past 3000 and it still woulndt shift into 4th.

so i dont think its the pcm anymore but the late shift concerns me though. but ill take this post over to the transmission dept. as it doesnt seem to be an electrical problem.

but thanks for the replies. thank you thank you!!
