Default Problems programming remote 2000 s10 blazer

Bought my Blazer but the remote was beat up and broken. I got new remotes, matched up the serials and model but I can’t get it to link. The blazer will go into the mode but no matter how long I hold the unlock and lock on the remote nothing happens. I read in my manual that if I’m having problems with my remote I should do the procedure but keep my window down and door open. It goes into the mode but still no luck. I’m thinking there’s some special way for my year but I just haven’t figured it out yet and I’m hoping one of you awesome Blazer owners can steer me in the right direction.

AFAIK there are two different models of remotes and you definitely need the correct one. I had same problem on my 2001. I needed the other kind. Ace Hardware has a tester for your remote to see if it is putting out the signal.

What model/serial did you match up? That of the remote that came with the truck and was assumed to be the original remote? If so, it is possible that someone picked up the incorrect remote and never got it to work.

My first step would be to verify that the truck came with RKE by locating the SPI label inside the glove box door and finding RPO code AU0 or AX3 on the label. If one of those codes is present, then I would move on to locating the RKE receiver which is mounted to the driver side hush panel above the pedals. The number of importance here is the FCC ID. I believe it should be KOBUT1BR. If so, then your remotes should have an FCC ID of KOBUT1BT. Both are standard for US spec 2000 model year S-series trucks, but given as examples not knowing the specific origin of your truck.

If all that matches up and you still cannot get things to program properly, it may be necessary to run a forced reprogram with a Tech2 or comparable scantool.
