If the computer had a"mode" button does that mean it has obdII access and can tell me my mpg, trip, etc? I'm looking on ebay for some thanks

 

Well if you are trying to install a driver information center (DIC) in one that didn't come with one stock, or only had the temp / compass, you will need to do some wiring to get it to work.

But, yes, if it has the mode button, it can tell you the trip, mpg stuff.

 

Well I assumed the wiring would come along with that. Mine does not have comp/temp at all. But I am not afraid of some wiring. I could not find a write up on this. I am sure I would not be the first to do this. But I couldn't find one while I searched...

 

I think warthogdriver did a write up for converting a temp / compass to the full dic, maybe that can help narrow it down. I'd find it, but I haven't seen it for quite some time.

 

What year of vehicle? There are no less than four different DIC over the years, and they are not interchangeable. The early years didn't come with the MODE button, only temp/compass.
