I have a 2001 Jimmy SLT 4dr. It has the lift style rear gate with the secondary glass lifty deal.

About a week ago the window latch stopped locking. The main gate still locks but the glass part doesn't. at about the same time (i'm not 100% that it was exactly the same or just close) the "Security" light in the cluster started flashing. Locking the driver door with it open stops the flashing, but only until the next time the vehicle is shut off. I've checked all the fuses and they seem fine.

Any ideas on where to start and if the 2 are related or just coincidental

 

Good question lol... I have a 98 LT and when I have the hatch open and start the truck the gate ajar light comes on the dash... I have never seen my security light come of though.

 

Are you meaning your glass isnt latching? I'm not sure about the security light.

I bough a 2000 jimmy 2ith the same rear gate, and the main issue was the battery always dieing, found the rear glass never latching.

I had to remove the panel for the gate, and play with the latch while lubricating and cleaning the mechanism, I readjusted it aswell to sit further out a little. Open and shuts like new and havent had a problem since.

yeah, it doesn't latch. I guess i'll have to open up the panel and have a look on my next days off. when it's supposed to be cold and pissing rain. yay!

 

Always seems to be the case for exterior repairs lol... my luck is the coldest darkest day of the year with 3 feet of snow, usually when I have to do a fuel pump lol...
