Default Speedometer failure and abs issue

Hey guys, I browsed around the forum as much as I could to see if I could find the answer to this problem with no luck. So over the last year occasionally my blazer (2002 Blazer ZR2) speedometer would decide not to work and the abs light would come on and it would downshift into second or first gear (this happened maybe 3 times total) until this month, but it would usually return to normal within an few miles, now my speedometer works rarely, and my tranny won't shift out of second gear.
I replaced the Vehicle speed sensors, (my rig has two) on the rear of the transfer case with no change, from the best of my understanding it is the sensor on the driver's side of the t-case that provides the speedo with its signal.... any ideas what might be wrong? I checked the contacts on the male end of the driver's side plug and both wires(green with black stripe, and purple with white stripe) showed continuity to the vehicle frame, is this normal, or does that mean I have a break or a short in the system? The wiring's in a bad spot to try to trace.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

-Eric

Oh yeah, I have the transfer case thats the alltrac version.... so it has 3 sensors two in back one by the front driveshaft, if that makes any difference.
