I believe that vin W is the only engine vin option for 1997, that should be affirmative. But this is a random Google link so... I do not have access to complete service information for a 97.

If you plan on keeping the truck, you probably want to look into a alldatadiy.com or eautorepair.net account which would include access to factory wiring diagrams.

Sounds good, and thank you for your input. And from what i seen, there is only the vss wires (2wires twisted) going into transfer case. Not much wiring at all, due to bw4472 all mechanical, but previous owner may have ran different sensors to tcase and transmission. Ill be removing the gm136 tomorrow, and get a better look at everything. Worse case scenario, if no success, keep 136 and create manual shift where motor is supposed to be, using only 4x4 high and 2x4 high. Or just keep it 2wd and sell it for cheap
