trailer wiring
I have just purchased a '97 2 door blazer and I am trying to wire a 4 wire flat plug for trailer lights but the brake lights are getting power through the brown wire which is for park lights. I do need to replace the hazard light switch because it is broken. Would this cause my problem? Thanks in Advance for any suggestions.
Seems that my problem was in the ground. Instead of useing the ground in the harness I run the ground to the frame and problem solved. Everything works GREAT now. Thanks for the input. I was wide open for suggestions.
Hint: Fix {or add} ground to the factory wire so, in case you forget, it's all good for next time.
I also have a 97, I just got a 4 prong trailer light hook up, but theres 6 wires under the truck (the wires were cut and left hanging there by the previous owner), what wires go where? Wiring is not my strong point so if anyone can tell me or show me what to do with them, it would be appreciated, thanks...
I shouldve mentioned that under the truck theres 2 white wires (one is thicker) a light green and a dark green, a brown, and a yellow. Thats 6, and the trailer hookup only has 4, and on there the white is ground, brown is tail lights, left turn is yellow, and right turn is green. So anyone know what goes where and how should I do this? Thanks for the help.
