Exclamation Turn Signal/Flasher Electrical Problem

I have a 99 Blazer 4 door 4x4 (not that it matters in this situation) and my clicker for my turn signal does not stop clicking. My turn signals don't turn on it's just the clicker that clicks. It's usually at a normal 60-120 clicks per minute but occasionally it goes haywire and clicks probably 10-20 times withing a second or two. I noticed that when I start braking 9 out of 10 times the clicker will stop clicking. There is also a slight delay when I turn on my actual turn signal before it turns on. I have looked at wiring diagrams, I replaced the flasher, and I can't figure out what's wrong with it.

Also, after I have the car on for a long time, I can sometimes see a very small amount of smoke coming from my steering wheel, right where my hazard lights button is (on top of the steering column). I can not find the actual source of the smoke.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like either a bad ground (power feeding back through the flasher instead of to ground) or a bad multi function switch.

Yeah I was really hoping it wouldn't be the actual switch. Mine has cruise control and runs at about $150 new. I'll try to find the ground wire and see if something is wrong with it. Thanks for the help

UPDATE: I researched a bit and found one for less than $30
