Default Turn signal problem

Just got a 2000 ZR2 with only 58000 miles. Pretty happy so far but the turn signal noise from the flasher goes off all the time when it's running. The signals work fine and when not on they don't blink but the noise happens all the time until I apply the brakes ! Then it stops until my foot comes off the pedal. Any ideas before I take it in to an auto electric place ?

Sounds like the I would first check the flasher relay, should be located behind the glove box, if that does not fix it, I would suspect the multi function switch (turn signal lever)

Take a look at the hazard switch (part of the multifunction switch). When it starts to go bad, it can cause phantom flasher noises with no other symptoms. Eventually, you'll lose the flashers and/or the brake lights intermittently, then more permanently.

It could be a simple sub-$20 fix if you get on it soon enough. There is a tech article on the replacement of the hazard switch itself as well as one on the whole multifunction switch assembly.

I'll check the flasher and see if it's the correct one. Thanks

Based on your hazard switch tip I pulled the fuse to the hazard lights thinking if it is the hazard switch then this should eliminate it from the list of possible suspects. It worked to some degree. But now the signals won't work unless the hazard switch is in the up (on) position. With the switch down (or off) the noise never happens but the signals won't work either. Switch up and signals work but the noise still happens just not as often. I'm thinking the switch is bad or shorted out ?

I just replaced my signal switch (multifunction switch) it's not that hard, you tube helped a lot. Mine was a ticking noise all the time at the relay.
