Default Turn signal ticker (sound) goes off randomly without engaging the turn signals...

As the title states, the ticker sound that comes from under the passenger side dash area goes off randomly and even sounds "scratchyish" at times; without even having the left/right turn signal on. Has anyone experienced a similar problem? The vehicle is a 2001 Blazer 4 door 4.3L. Ideas? Thanks in advance.

Check the relay first. There should be a relay access through your glove compartment. Check all the relays under there, because it might not be your turn signal at all. Are they any recurring events which seem to happen beforehand (e.g., rain, car wash, hitting major potholes, etc.?).

This JUST started happening to me yesterday on my drive home from school! weird timing that you're experiencing it too! I have a couple extra relay/flashers laying around that I have pulled out of the junkyard. I'll throw one of those in it today and see if that was the problem.
